Roderick S. Brown, Ph.D., established Goldenrod Strategies and Solutions after more than 30 years of diverse, progressive leadership in higher education.
Inspired by his own undergraduate experience, he accepted his call to the profession in 1989, and he has had the honor of advocating for students, faculty, and staff at a variety of public and private universities and community colleges.
With advanced degrees and experience in both student affairs and academic affairs, Dr. Brown encourages institutions to consider student success holistically and the work of student success collaboratively.
His distinguished career in academia includes service as a tenured professor, dean, and chief academic officer, as well as co-designer of credit-bearing courses in diversity and the humanities.
Dr. Brown successfully managed operational and sponsored program funds in excess of $10 million, led strategic planning efforts at the campus and system levels, and supervised teams of over 1000 faculty and staff.
He currently serves as a leadership coach for the Achieving the Dream initiative and regularly chairs accreditation visits for the Higher Learning Commission.
A passionate believer in inclusive, welcoming traditions and communities, Dr. Brown founded Goldenrod under the principle that each college and university has a soul, and that soul informs institutional practices and shapes institutional outcomes.

Dr. Brown holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame, master's degrees in College Student Personnel Administration and English from Indiana University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Curriculum and Instruction from Indiana State University. He is based in the Indianapolis metropolitan area.
